LOGAN – The opening round of the playoffs are done and multiple Region 11 teams are advancing to Bracket Play in both baseball and softball. In the Super Regionals of the baseball tournament, all of the higher-seeded Region 11 teams won their best-of-three series (without needing a third game). In fact, only one series required three games to be played and that was #5 Desert Hills needing three games to get past #12 Cedar.
Double elimination Bracket Play gets underway May 15-16 at BYU. The first game of the day on Monday will feature #4 Mountain Crest vs #5 Desert Hills at 12:30 p.m. followed by #8 Bear River taking on #1 Snow Canyon at 3 p.m. The winners of these two games will face each other at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16; the losers of those games will have a much shorter turn around and will play each other at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
#7 Green Canyon will face #2 Crimson Cliffs at 5:30 p.m. and then #6 Ridgeline is scheduled to face #3 Dixie at 8 p.m. Teams which win in these later games will face each other at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while those who lose will play at 3 p.m.
The baseball playoffs will continue through the week at Utah Valley University with the best-of-three championship series on May 19th and 20th.
